Why did you join HKN? “I joined HKN originally because I wanted to be part of a community that shared similar interests, values, and diligence in their work. I was also looking to be more involved in our engineering department to help create events and opportunities for other students.”
Name: Joshua Welton
Position: Treasurer
Major: Electrical and Computer Engineering
Year in School: Master’s Student
What are you most looking forward to this school year? “I’m most looking forward to seeing everyone again! Online school was tough and draining, so being able to get out and do stuff with my peers will be a breath of fresh air.”

Why did you join HKN? “I wanted to improve my skills as a software developer.”

What are you most looking forward to this school year? “I’m most looking forward to helping more students do well and learn more in ECpE. I enjoy working with embedded systems and want to help others enjoy it as much as I do while having fun in the process.”

What are your career goals? “I hope to ultimately one day be an entrepreneur in the cybersecurity industry. I would like to own a business that does security consulting for firms that do not have an in-house cybersecurity team. Right out of school I hope to get a job with RSM which is a consulting firm that has a division that engages in cybersecurity consulting.”

What is your favorite part about HKN? “My favorite part about HKN is having a platform to create new initiatives and give back to my department, campus, and community. I also really love getting to teach technical skill building workshops on topics like Matlab and PCB design.”
